SEOUL – The South Korean shipping company Hanjin Shipping is about to go bankrupt. The seventh largest company in the world consults Wednesday on the request for deferred payment through the courts, which often leads to bankruptcy.

The container industry is still since the outbreak of the financial crisis in stormy weather. Hanjin scored the last five years, four times the loss. Creditors are fed and the company has struggled to close new loans.

Hanjin also sails in the port of Rotterdam. Last year, Hanjin was by the Dutch shippers organization EVO yet voted best performing company of the year.
